IXYS Corporation And Power Efficiency Corporation Announce Orders for Single Phase Motor Efficiency Controllers
IXYS Corporation and Power Efficiency Corporation, jointly announced that they have received the first order for Power Efficiency`s single phase motor efficiency controllers. The 1,000 units are being sold for a retrofit application in the U.S. The customer expects to make additional purchases for this application in the future. The companies also announced the launch of a single phase Motor Efficiency Controller Evaluation Module targeted at design engineers who are interested in making AC induction motors in their original equipment more energy efficient.
IXYS Corporation's Clare, Inc. Introduces 200 Volt Optically Isolated, Self Biased Gate Driver
Clare, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of IXYS Corporation announced the immediate production release of the CPC1590, an optically isolated MOSFET gate driver integrated circuit which uses a bootstrap biasing technique to eliminate the load sidepower supply. An external power MOSFET is controlled by the application of a low input LED current (2.5 to 10mA) to the CPC1590 which activates the internal load-side driver circuit. The CPC1590 IC connected to the load, together with an external storage capacitor provides bias to the internal driver circuit which eliminates a costly power supply. This device is specifically designed for low duty-cycle switching frequencies and offers isolated solid state control to replace large modules and multi-component discrete solutions.

IXYS Corporation Completes Acquisition Of LED & Display Driver IC Business From Leadis Technology, Inc.
IXYS Corporation announced that it has completed the acquisition of the LED driver IC and LCD display driver IC business units from Leadis Technology, Inc. IXYS expects to pay about $4 million in current and deferred funds in exchange for the combined business units, including the respective units' products, intellectual property, technologies and key employees. The newly acquired LED driver products include capacitor based DC-DC (charge pump), inductor based DC-DC (boost) and low drop-out linear LED driver ICs with integrated smart features and controls to match a wide spectrum of products and applications. The acquired LCD display driver ICs are incorporated in the smart-phone handsets of Nokia and Sony Ericsson.

MicroWave Technology Inc. (MwT), a wholly owned subsidiary of IXYS Corporation, announced that it has been awarded a contract from BAE Systems with a total amount of over $2.5 million. The contract consists of supplying a large volume of custom connected microwave amplifiers with military electrical specifications and high reliability requirements.
