Progress Software Corp. To Cut At Least 12% Of Work Force-DJ

Dow Jones reported that Progress Software Corp. will cut its global work force by 12% to 14% as the business-software maker moves to restructure its sales. The Company's job cuts were part of a series of initiatives to position Progress for long-term growth and improved profitability. Progress said the job cuts would be across all functions and geographies and result in the consolidation of some offices.

Progress Software Corp. announced that for fourth quarter of 2009, it expects to achieve or exceed revenue and earnings per share (EPS) guidance as provided in its third quarter earnings press release issued on September 22, 2009. According to Reuters Estimates, analysts were expecting the Company to report revenues of $132 million and EPS of $0.51 for the same period.

This enables DRNet to provide high-performance Type 4 JDBC drivers for all major databases, including Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase, Informix and MySQL.

Progress Software Corp. announced that its Progress Sonic ESB (enterprise service bus) is deployed and operational at Heathrow`s Terminal 5. The solution from Progress Software enables BAA to provide airport integration capabilities using the Sonic ESB product. This includes the creation of reusable integration services for new T5 systems and of specialist adaptors for the integration of existing key operational BAA systems, such as the Airport Operational Database Integration. BAA selected the Sonic ESB product for Terminal 5 to achieve reliable integration of events in order to provide the best passenger experience possible. 

 
British Airways Selects Progress Software Corp.'s SOA Solutions To Upgrade The Travel Experience

Progress Software Corp. announced that British Airways (BA) will use its portfolio of SOA solutions as a key part of its travel program to upgrade its IT systems. This will extend to the end of 2014, and will revolutionize travel by integrating over 600 different electronic systems and processes involved in getting BA passengers in the air. BA will initially use Progress Sonic ESB, Progress Actional SOA Management and Progress DataXtend Semantic Integrator (SI) from Progress Software`s portfolio of SOA applications.
