ECHOtrade Chooses RCN Corporation's RCN Metro For Connectivity To Financial Exchanges

RCN Metro Optical Networks, a division of RCN Corporation announced that it is providing ECHOtrade, a professional trading firm dedicated to the needs of the off-the-floor trader, with connectivity to financial exchanges and the Internet. In addition, RCN Metro is providing colocation services for their New York offices. RCN Metro was able to deliver these services to ECHOtrade in days, far faster that the customer's previous experiences with other service providers. RCN Metro upgraded ECHOtrade's network services to include multiple circuits for connectivity to financial exchanges, connecting to the Internet and colocation services at its 111 8th Ave facility. 

 
Chicago Board Options Exchange Selects RCN Corporation's RCN Metro Optical Networks As Preferred Extranet Service Provider

RCN Corporation announced that RCN Metro Optical Networks, a division of RCN Corporation has been chosen as a provider of Extranet Connectivity Services to the CBOE and its member firms and traders. With this agreement, RCN Metro now connects more than 20 financial exchanges in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, including Chicago and New York City. In addition, CBOE selected RCN Metro because it was able to provide the redundancy needed, both at the CBOE and at the customer premises. 

 
OpenCape Chooses RCN Corporation's RCN Metro Optical Networks To Build And Operate Advanced Fiber Network In Southeastern Massachusetts

RCN Metro Optical Networks, a division of RCN Corporation announced that it was selected by OpenCape Corporation as its network partner to build and operate a 300 mile fiber network across Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, and the Islands.

FiberNet Telecom Group, Inc. announced that RCN Corporation withdrew its proposal to acquire FiberNet for $12.50 per share of FiberNet common stock. Consequently, pursuant to the Agreement and Plan of Merger, dated as of May 28, 2009 (Merger Agreement), among FiberNet, Zayo Group, LLC (Zayo Group) and Zayo Merger Sub, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zayo Group, RCN Corporation is no longer an Excluded Party under the terms of the Merger Agreement. 

 
New York's 92nd Street Y Selects RCN Corporation's RCN Metro Optical Networks to Power Wi-Fi Network With Dedicated High-Speed Internet

RCN Metro Optical Networks, a division of RCN Corporation and a provider of fiber optic-based network solutions, announced that it is providing dedicated, high-speed Internet Service to the 92nd Street Y, an institution that serves more than 300,000 people annually, providing programs in the arts and culture, Jewish life and education, health and fitness, personal growth, and travel and in classes for adults, families, and children. Under the agreement, RCN Metro provides the 92nd Street Y with a high-speed, dedicated access solution for first-class Internet access with low-latency and high reliability. This service is needed to support Wi-Fi usage by the 350 young men and women residing in the de Hirsch Residence, which acts as a dormitory for several of the area's colleges and universities. The 92nd Street Y also extends this Wi-Fi service to multiple public areas within the facility.
