Starent Networks Corp. announced that Telenor Denmark has selected Starent's multimedia core network equipment for the carrier's 2G, 3G/UMTS and 4G/LTE networks. This comes on the heels of Telenor Norway's selection of Starent to replace the core network elements of its mobile services infrastructure. Starent Networks will be providing Telenor Denmark with the Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN) and Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) for the 2G and 3G/UMTS networks and Mobility Management Entity (MME), Serving Gateway (SGW) and Packet Data Network Gateway (PGW) for the 4G/LTE network on the ST series platform. Additionally, Telenor plans to use Starent's Network-Based Traffic Optimization In-Line Service.

Starent Networks Corp. announced that Telenor Norway, Norway`s wireless provider, selected the company to provide multimedia core network equipment for the carrier`s 2G, 3G/UMTS and 4G/LTE networks. Telenor will deploy Starent's Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN) and Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) for the 2G and 3G/UMTS networks and Mobility Management Entity (MME), Serving Gateway (SGW) and Packet Data Network Gateway (PGW) for the 4G/LTE network on the ST40 multimedia core platform.
UTStarcom, Inc. And Starent Networks Corp. Announce Settlement Agreement
UTStarcom, Inc. and Starent Networks Corp. announced that they have agreed to settle all legal disputes between the two companies. Under the settlement, Starent Networks Corp. will make a one-time payment to UTStarcom, Inc. in the amount of $3.5 million and receive a perpetual royalty-free license to UTStarcom, Inc. patents. Included in the settlement is the dismissal of two pending litigations in the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois (filed on May 8, 2007) and the Northern District of California (filed on February 16, 2005).
Starent Networks Corp. Announces Investigation on Behalf of Shareholders Starent Networks, Inc.
Law office of Brodsky & Smith, LLC announced that it is investigating potential claims against the Board of Directors of Starent Networks, Inc. relating to the proposed acquisition Cisco Systems, Inc. (Cisco). Cisco has agreed to acquire Starent in an all-cash deal valued at approximately $2.9 billion. Under the proposed agreement, Starent shareholders will receive $35.00 for every share of Starent common stock they own. The investigation concerns possible breaches of fiduciary duty and other violations of state law related to the Starent board`s approval of the proposed merger. The Starent board may have to agreed to sell the company at an unfair price given that Starent has a 85% market share, which includes selling technology to carriers that use so-called CDMA networks. Sales have grown roughly 65% annually over the last four years.
