TEKELEC announced that it is deploying its SIGTRAN -- signaling system 7 (SS7) over Internet protocol (IP) -- solution at TELUS, a Canadian national telecommunications company. By rolling out SIGTRAN on Tekelec's market-share leading EAGLE5 platform, TELUS is implementing an IP-based network architecture that lowers transport costs and increases bandwidth for network signaling while maximizing the value of current network technology. 

TEKELEC Raises FY 2009 Non-GAAP EPS Guidance; Reaffirms FY 2009 Revenue Guidance

TEKELEC revised fiscal 2009 guidance and expects revenue to range between $450-$460 million, GAAP earnings per share (EPS) to range from $0.61-$0.66 and non-GAAP EPS to range from $0.95-$1.00. Non-GAAP adjustments after tax represent approximately $0.27 per share. Of these amounts, approximately $7.0M would increase Non-GAAP cost of sales and reduce the Non-GAAP gross margin. According to Reuters Estimates, analysts were expecting the Company to report revenue of $457 million and non-GAAP EPS of $0.93 for the same period. 

Iowa Network Services and Onvoy Voice Services Select TEKELEC For SS7 and VoIP Network Performance Management

TEKELEC announced that it has been selected to monitor signaling system 7 (SS7) and voice over internet protocol (VoIP) traffic by Iowa Network Services (INS) and Onvoy Voice Services. INS and Onvoy operate and co-own the SS7 network, and had a need to monitor the increasing volume of IP traffic on their individual networks. Tekelec's Integrated Applications Solution (IAS) will monitor, correlate and report on multi-protocol network traffic to deliver critical business intelligence information for troubleshooting, traffic management and improved network efficiency.

TEKELEC announced that it has won T-Mobile Germany's mobile number portability signaling relay function (MNP-SRF) business. Tekelec`s core network platform, the EAGLE 5, manages signaling system 7 (SS7) traffic and SS7 over Internet Protocol (IP), or SIGTRAN, traffic for T-Mobile Germany, T-Mobile U.K. and T-Mobile Netherlands. The platform also supports several applications beyond signaling, such as MNP-SRF, short message routing, HLR and voicemail server routing, gateway functionality, and integrated data acquisition.

TEKELEC announced that for first half of 2009, it expects revenue to range between $225-$240 million, GAAP earnings per share (EPS) to range from $0.25-$0.35 and non-GAAP EPS to range from $0.36-$0.46. According to Reuters Estimates, analysts were expecting the Company to report revenues of $107 million and EPS of $0.17 for first quarter of 2009 and revenues of $111 million and EPS of $0.20 for second quarter of 2009. 

TEKELEC Announces Acquisition Of mBalance

TEKELEC announced the acquisition of privately held mBalance, a developer of messaging solutions. Under the terms of the acquisition agreement, TEKELEC, through its Belgian subsidiary, Tekelec International, SPRL, has acquired 100% of mBalance’s stock for €28 million (approximately $39.5 million at yesterday’s exchange rate) in cash at closing, with up to an additional €14 million of cash consideration payable upon the achievement of certain order input targets over the next two years. The initial purchase price is also subject to a working capital adjustment calculated as the difference in actual working capital at closing and the target working capital balance of €4.8 million.

TEKELEC reaffirmed its fiscal 2008 revenue guidance range of $460-$470 million. The Company has raised its fiscal 2008 non-GAAP earnings per share (EPS) guidance to be in the range of $0.86-$0.92 and GAAP EPS to be in the range of $$0.65-$0.71. According to Reuters Estimates, analysts on average are expecting the Company to report EPS of $0.90 on revenues of $461 million for the same period.
