Vimicro International Corporation Announces Strategic Development Agreement With China Satellite Mobile Broadcasting Corporation For CMMB Mobile TV Standard
Vimicro International Corporation announced a strategic development partnership with China Satellite Mobile Broadcasting Corporation (CSMBC) to advance the development of mobile TV under the China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting (CMMB) standard. CSMBC is a wholly owned subsidiary of The State Administration of Radio Film and Television (SARFT) and the national operator of CMMB. Vimicro and CSMBC will collaborate on developing new technology and new business for the widespread utilization of the CMMB standard throughout China. As part of the agreement, Vimicro will develop highly reliable and highly integrated CMMB chip solutions, while CSMBC will provide support and assistance functions including CMMB handset testing and certification. Both companies will actively promote the CMMB standard and technology in the end user market.

Vimicro International Corporation announced that Vimicro Electronics Corporation (Vimicro Tianjin), a joint venture company operated and managed by Vimicro, entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Video Surveillance System (ViSS) from Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell Ltd. Co. (ASB). Vimicro Tianjin will acquire the complete ViSS business including all property, plant and equipment, inventories, business contracts, intellectual property and service and development capabilities in China. Moreover, Vimicro and ASB will continue the cooperation on solution and marketing developments in the future. Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell Ltd. Co. (ASB) is the flagship company of Alcatel-Lucent in Asia. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Vimicro International Corporation announced a strategic collaboration agreement with Leadcore Technology Co., Ltd. (Leadcore), a subsidiary of Datang Telecom Technology Holding Co., Ltd. Leadcore is the TD-SCDMA User Equipment solutions provider. Recently, China Mobile and China Satellite Mobile Broadcasting Corporation (CSMBC) have jointly announced plans to launch TD-SCDMA-based 3G mobile communication services with CMMB mobile TV multimedia applications pre- installed. Vimicro and Leadcore have agreed to cooperate on developing 3G mobile phone technologies based on TD-SCDMA and multimedia standards for China Mobile. As part of the agreement, Vimicro will provide comprehensive mobile multimedia technologies and solutions, including mobile TV technology.
