Ghana Government Won't Revoke Ghana Telecom Sale To Vodafone Group Plc-DJ
Wednesday, 4 Nov 2009 05:41am EST

Dow Jones reported that Ghana's government has said it won't revoke last year's sale of state-owned Ghana Telecom to Vodafone Group Plc, according to the BBC report. The decision comes three weeks after the leaking of an official review commissioned by the government, which said the sale concluded under the previous government was unconstitutional and illegal. It said the $900 million Vodafone Group Plc paid last July for a 70% stake in Ghana Telecommunications was nowhere near its value, the BBC reported. The government is quoted as saying it accepted the recommendation of the review committee to re-engage with the management of Vodafone Group Plc and ensure compliance with the laws of Ghana.
