World Heart Corporation Signs Agreements For Minimally Invasive Blood Pump

World Heart Corporation announced that it has finalized assignment and exclusive license agreements with LaunchPoint Technologies Inc., (LPT) Goleta, California, and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for its minimally invasive blood pump, the MiVAD. The MiVAD, is designed to provide partial cardiac support between 2-4 liters per minute to less sick heart failure patients than those served by existing full-support Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs). 

 
World Heart Corporation Receives IRB Approval At First Center In Levacor VAD BTT Clinical Trial

World Heart Corporation announced that Levacor Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Bridge-to-Transplant (BTT) Study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. On site clinical and technical training has been conducted, formally qualifying this center as the first for the Levacor Study.

World Heart Corporation announced that it has received FDA conditional approval to begin a bridge-to-transplant (BTT) study of the Levacor Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) at ten US centers. The Company is required to provide some additional information to the FDA within 45 days, but the study is permitted to begin upon receipt of clinical center Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals.
