ZOLL Medical Corporation Announces Award Of Federal Supply Schedule Contract For Intravascular Temperature Management

ZOLL Medical Corporation announced that it has been awarded a modification contract from the U. S. Veterans Administration (VA) that adds the Company's Intravascular Temperature Management (IVTM) systems to the Federal Supply Schedule (FSS). Under the terms of the five-year agreement, VA hospitals and all branches of military hospitals can order ZOLL's IVTM against this contract, making the procurement of equipment easier without the need to go out for bid.

ZOLL Medical Corporation announced that for fiscal 2010, it expects revenue in the vicinity of $440 million and earnings per share (EPS) in the range of $0.80. The Company expects double-digit revenue growth in first quarter of 2010 versus first quarter of 2008, or 2009, rather, low teens in the second quarter of 2010, mid to high teens in the third quarter of 2010 and the fourth quarter of 2010. One scenario might be $100 million in the first quarter of 2010, slightly better in the second quarter of 2010, $110 million or so in the third quarter of 2010, and $125 million or so in the fourth quarter of 2010. With respect to EPS, the Company expects $0.10 in the first quarter of 2010; $0.10 to $0.12 in the second quarter of 2010; $0.20 to $0.25 in the third quarter of 2010; and $0.33 to $0.40 in the fourth quarter of 2010. This view might yield an annual range of $0.73 to $0.87, taken the conservative end of the range for the first, second and third quarters of 2010, and the higher end of the range for the fourth quarter of 2010 to get $0.80. According to Reuters Estimates, analysts are expecting the Company to report revenue of $432 million for fiscal 2010; revenue of $98 million on EPS of $0.10 for the first quarter of 2010; revenue of $101 million on EPS of $0.13 for the second quarter of 2010; revenue of $109 million on EPS of $0.22 for the third quarter of 2010; revenue of $122 million on EPS of $0.35 for the fourth quarter of 2010.

ZOLL Medical Corporation announced that for third quarter 2009 it expects earnings per share (EPS) to look a lot like second quarter 2009. From a revenue perspective, assuming the closing of the Alsius acquisition it expects to see revenues of, say, $2 million at a breakeven contribution. The Company expects third quarter 2009 revenues in the high $90 million range. For fourth quarter of 2009, it expects revenues to be a little over $100 million. For fiscal 2009 its bottom-line perspective has not changed since its last call a couple of weeks ago. It expects earnings for the year of approximately $0.40. This is the mid-40s for business as usual, minus the $0.05 to $0.07 for the news sales force people as discussed last time. The Company reported EPS of $0.08 in second quarter of 2009. According to Reuters Estimates, analysts are expecting the Company to report EPS of $0.06 and revenue of $95 million for third quarter 2009; revenues of $100 million in fourth quarter of 2009; EPS of $0.37 and revenue of $376.38 million for fiscal 2009. 

 
ZOLL Medical Corporation Receives Clearance To Market R Series Defibrillators In China

ZOLL Medical Corporation announced that it has received clearance from the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) of China to market and sell the ZOLL R Series Code-Ready defibrillators to hospitals in the People's Republic of China. The SFDA is equivalent to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The cables, paddles, batteries, handles, and electrodes are also common to ensure that clinicians will not encounter a mismatch during a code. In addition, the R Series can use wireless networking to ensure code-readiness.
