Mr. Roy J. Nichols is Lead Independent Director of Adtran Inc., since October 2006. He founded and served as President of Nichols Research Corporation, a defense and information systems company, where he worked from 1976 until its merger with Computer Sciences Corporation in November 1999. Mr. Nichols currently serves as a director of Blue Creek Investments and the Hudson Alpha Institute of Biotechnology. Mr. Nichols has served as a director of ADTRAN since 1994, and has served as Company's lead director since October 2006. Mr. Nichols is also a member of Company's Audit, Compensation and Nominating and Corporate Governance Committees.
