Dr. Donald C. Harrison, M.D., is an Independent Director of AtriCure Inc., since November 2000. Since 2004, Dr. Harrison has served as a Managing Partner of Charter Life Sciences, L.P., a venture capital investment firm. He also serves as a director of several public and private companies, including Kendle International, a publicly-held clinical research company, EnteroMedics, Inc., a publicly-held developer of medical devices for the treatment of obesity and gastrointestinal disorders, Sidis Technologies, Inc., a privately-held information technology services company, CoRepair, Inc., a privately-held heart failure company, Ischemia Care LLC, a privately-held company that performs genetic testing for stroke, and Minimally Invasive Devices LLC, a privately-held medical device company that develops products that facilitate minimally invasive surgery. From 1986 to 2003, Dr. Harrison was the Senior Vice President and Provost for Health Affairs at the University of Cincinnati. In this capacity, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Center. Dr. Harrison has previously served as a director of various publicly-held companies, including EP Technology, Inc., Novoste Corporation, InControl, Inc. and SciMed, Inc. From 2000 to 2003, Dr. Harrison served as a director of Enable Medical Corporation, a developer and manufacturer of surgical instruments that AtriCure acquired on August 10, 2005. From 1968 to 1986, Dr. Harrison served as co-director of the Falk Cardiovascular Research Center in Stanford, California, Professor of Medicine and William G. Irwin Professor of Cardiology at Stanford University School of Medicine and Chief of Cardiology at Stanford University Hospital. Dr. Harrison received his B.S. from Birmingham Southern College and his M.D. from the University of Alabama College of Medicine.
