Ms. Alberta G. Cefis serves as an Executive Vice President, Head - Global Transaction Banking of The Bank of Nova Scotia. She is Executive Vice-President - Retail Lending Services, and President & CEO of Scotia Mortgage Corporation. She is responsible for consumer and small business lending including: mortgages; credit cards; retail loans; automotive finance (for both retail and commercial segments) and indirect lending; risk management; and, integrated business solutions. Alberta joined Scotiabank in 1999. She has experience in the Canadian financial services industry, in the areas of retail banking, business banking, operations and service delivery, marketing, strategic planning and organizational development. In 2003 and 2004, Alberta was named to the Top 100 List of Canada's Most Powerful Women by the Women's Executive Network and the University of Western Ontario's Richard Ivey School of Business. Ms. Cefis is multilingual, and graduated from McGill University with both a Bachelor of Arts, Joint Honours degree in Political Science & Literature, and a Master in Business Administration.
