Mr. Marcial Angel Portela Alvarez has served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors since September 2011, Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Executive Board of Banco Santander (Brasil) SA since February 2, 2011. He is Member of the Executive Committee of the Company. He previously served as Chairman of the Board of the Bank from September 2, 2009 and was elected as a Member of the board of Directors of the Bank in September 2009. He began at Banco Santander in 1999 as Executive Vice President responsible for technology, operations, human resources and efficiency programs. He was Member of the Board of Directors of Banco Santander Mexico SA and Vice President of Banco Santander Chile SA. In 1998, he worked for Comunitel, SA in Spain and, from 1996 to 1997, he served as President of Telefonica International and, from 1992 to 1996, he served as Member of the Board of Directors of Telefonica SA (Spain). From 1991 to 1996, he served as Administrator for Corporacion Bancaria Espana SA — Argentaria and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banco Espanol de Credito SA Banesto. From 1990 to 1991, he worked for Banco Exterior de Espana SA in Spain. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Universidad de Madrid and a Master‘s degree in Sociology from Universite Catholique de Louvain in Belgium.
