Brief Biography
Dr. Ben J. Lipps has been Chairman of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer of Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. KGaA since May 1, 1999. He is representative of Fresenius Medical Care Management AG, general partner of the Company. He has held several senior offices with the Fresenius Group since 1985. He was Chief Executive Officer of Fresenius Care North America from 1996 till 1999 and of Frenius USA from 1985 to 1996. After earning his Master's and doctoral degrees at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in chemical engineering, Dr. Lipps led the research team that developed the first commercial Hollow Fiber Artificial Kidney at the end of the 1960s at DOW Chemical.
