People: Compagnie Generale de Geophysique Veritas SA (GEPH.PA)

Mr. Olivier Appert has been Director and Member of the Nominating and Remuneration Committee and Strategy Committee of Compagnie Generale de Geophysique Veritas (CGG Veritas) since May 15, 2003. He has been Chairman of the French Petroleum Institute (Institut Francais du Petrole, or IFP) since April 2003. He is a Member of the Ethics and Governance Committee of Technip, Director of Storengy and Director of the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris. Mr. Appert was President for Long-Term Cooperation and Energy Policy Analysis within the International Energy Agency (AIE) since October 1999. He graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Mines de Paris, started his career at the Mines de Lyon and has held numerous positions within the Ministry of Industry. He was then appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade from 1984 to 1986 and in 1987 he joined Telecommunications Radioelectriques et Telephoniques (TRT). In 1989, he moved back to the Ministry of Industry and in 1994 joined IFP to be in charge of research and development. From 1998, he was Managing Director of Isis. He currently is Director of Technip and of the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris.
