Mr. Michael L. Smith is an Independent Trustee of Kite Realty Group Trust since August 2004. He retired in 2005 from his positions as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of WellPoint, Inc., formerly Anthem, Inc., a health insurance company, positions he had held since 1999. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President of Anthem, Inc. and Chief Financial Officer of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s operations in the Midwest and Connecticut. Mr. Smith currently serves on the boards of directors of the following publicly traded companies: hhGregg, Inc., Vectren Corporation and Brightpoint, Inc. Mr. Smith also serves as a director of several privately held companies and not-for-profit organizations including LDI Ltd, LLC, Carestream Health, Inc., Lockton, Inc., and Hulman & Company. He is also a member of the Indiana Commission on Higher Education. Mr. Smith is a member of the board of trustees of DePauw University and Lumina Foundation for Education. He also served as a Director of First Indiana Corporation, Somerset Group, Inc., Intermune, Inc., and Calumet Specialty Products Partners, LP.
