Mr. Jan P. du Plessis is Senior Independent Non-Executive Director of Marks and Spencer Group PLC since March 1, 2012. He has been Independent Non-Executive Director of the company since 2008. Jan has considerable business and brand experience, having sat on the boards of a number of companies across a variety of industries. Jan is Chairman of Rio Tinto plc. He was formerly Chairman of British American Tobacco plc and RHM plc and a non-executive director of Lloyds Banking Group. He was also Group Finance Director of the Swiss luxury goods group Richemont until 2004.
