Dr. Donald E. Kuhla, Ph.D. has served as a Director of NPS Pharmaceuticals, Inc., since 1991. From 1998 through January 2004, Dr. Kuhla was president and chief operating officer of Albany Molecular Research, Inc., or AMRI, a chemical contract research organization. Dr. Kuhla continues to serve AMRI as a director. From 1994 through 1998 Dr. Kuhla was vice president of Plexus Ventures, Inc., a business consulting firm. From 1990 to 1994, Dr. Kuhla held senior management positions with two venture capital-backed, biotechnology startup companies. His early career was spent in research and development and operations management positions with Pfizer Inc. and Rorer Group, Inc., his last position at Rorer being senior vice president of operations. Dr. Kuhla is a director of Synthetech Inc., a pharmaceutical fine chemical company. Dr. Kuhla received a Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry from Ohio State University.
