Dr. Richard E. McDowell serves as an Independent Director of Northwest Bancshares Inc. He is President Emeritus of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Bradford, Pennsylvania. He served as President of the University from 1973 until August 2002 and during his tenure he had overall responsibility for the fiscal, academic, funding and facility management of the University’s Bradford Campus. As a member of the University of Pittsburgh’s administration, he served on numerous task forces and committees, and in a variety of University-wide capacities, including the Council of Deans. He is currently an Associate Professor who teaches courses in the departments of biology, management/entrepreneurship, and public relations. Dr. McDowell holds a BS degree from High Point University and MS and PhD. degrees from St. Louis University.
