Vandrevala, Phiroz 

Brief Biography

Mr. Phiroz Adi Vandrevala is Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. He was Head Global Corporate Affairs and Executive Director of the Company since September 6, 2007. He was Executive Vice President and Head, Global Corporate Affairs of TCS till September 6. As Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Phiroz Vandrevala was responsible for overseeing Communication, Administration, Infrastructure Development and Corporate Governance at Tata Consultancy Services. Phiroz was also a member of the core Strategy Group at TCS and actively involved in Public Affairs and Business Development aspects of the business. His remit also includes the corporate responsibilities relating to Occupational Health & Safety. An active spokesperson for the Indian IT Industry on the important issues confronting the sector, Phiroz is a former chairman of India’s apex industry body for IT, Nasscom. He continues to play role in the policy-making process for industry and the software sector in his various capacities as a member of the executive council of Nasscom and as a member of the National Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry – the apex industry body in the country. In the banking and financial services sector, Phiroz has been part of numerous committees constituted by the Reserve Bank of India to guide the central bank in its policy-making efforts. He is also a part of various IT initiatives of the government of India. A certified chartered accountant from Ernst & Young, Calcutta, Phiroz worked at consumer goods giant ITC Ltd for three years before joining TCS in 1982. In 1989, he left the company to set up Tandem Corporation’s operations in India before rejoining TCS in 1992.
