Ms. Carla Grasso has served as Director of Human Resources and Corporate Services and Member of the Executive Board of Vale since October 24, 2001. From December 1997 to October 2001, Ms. Grasso served as Chief Personnel, Management and Information Technology Officer of Vale’s Corporate Centre. Before joining Vale, she acted as secretary of the Brazilian Supplementary Social Security Office, from January 1994 to November 1997, as well as Advisor to the Brazilian Ministry of Social Security, from December 1992 to December 1993, and Deputy Coordinator of Fiscal Policy at the Brazilian Ministry of Finance, from October to December 1992. She also acted as Finance Advisor and Coordinator of the Macroeconomics and Social areas of the Brazilian Presidency office, from March 1990 to October 1992, Advisor to the Brazilian Ministry of Planning, from November 1988 to March 1990, and Advisor to the Presidency of Sebrae - Servico Brasileiro de Apoio a Pequena e Media Empresa, from January to November 1988. In 1997, she was appointed as Member of the Executive Board of Fundacao Vale do Rio Doce de Habitacao e Desenvolvimento Social. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Universidade de Brasilia and a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Universidade de Brasilia.
