Banks agree on payment extention of Powerchip loan -paper
TAIPEI, Jan 20 (Reuters) - Banks behind a T$60 billion ($1.8 billion) syndicated loan to Taiwan's top DRAM maker Powerchip have agreed to extend the payment of the loan for half a year, a local newspaper said on Tuesday. The Economic Daily News cited market talk that banks and the company are expected to announce the extension later this week, which would help Powerchip Semiconductor Corp ease some financing pressure in the sector's worst ever downturn.
