BRUSSELS, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Changes to the amount of capital that banks are required to keep may apply from 2012, according to the secretary general of the Basel Committee, which on Thursday released its proposals to tighten these standards. "The implementation date of 2012 corresponds with the statements of the G20 (group of major countries)," said Stefan Walter, secretary general of the Basel Committee, which sets global standards for banking.
