US SEC settles fraud suit with R&G Financial
NEW YORK, Feb 13 (Reuters) - R&G Financial Corp has settled allegations that the bank holding company inflated profits by improperly accounting for mortgage-related transactions, a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission attorney said on Wednesday.

NEW YORK, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Fifth Third Bancorp said on Thursday it would buy First Charter Corp. for $1.1 billion to gain access to nearly 60 bank branches in the U.S. South.
