Diving
Olympic divers perform a series of figures, with scores given according to degree of difficulty. The men’s and women’s events consist of individual and synchronised diving from the 10m platform and 3m springboard.
Swimming
There are 34 gold medals to be won in the swimming events which are held over various distances in the 50-metre pool in Beijing's dramatic "Water Cube".
Synchronized Swimming
Athletes are judged for their technical merit and artistic impression in two routines, each performed to music within a time limit.
Water Polo
Water polo is played by two teams of seven players who attempt to score by putting the ball into the opposing goal.
