Technique
Similar to baseball, softball is one of the few Olympic sports that is played exclusively by women. Joining the Olympic family in 1996, will be dropped from the Olympic program after the 2008 Games.
The Competition
Softball is played by teams of nine players, taking turns batting and fielding. The object is to score the most runs in seven innings. Each team’s turn at batting ends when three of its batters have been ruled out. If the score is tied after seven innings, one or more innings are played until one of the teams scores
