Jan. 31 - Free doughnuts and eating competitions are a big part of a Polish feast day known as "Fat Thursday."
Fat Thursday is a Catholic holiday that's evolved into quite a feast in Poland. Concerns about nutrition and putting on the pounds are cast aside for the day as people opt for the empty calories of deep-fried circles of dough.
