Lava flows in Hawaii

(00:57) Rough Cut

Mar. 7 - Spectacular lava from Mount Kilauea in Hawaii is flowing into the Pacific ocean.

Lava from the Kilauea volcano began flowing into the Pacific ocean on Thursday (March 6) as one of the most active volcanoes in the world continued to erupt. Officials were preparing an observation area near the site that would allow spectators to view the eruption safely, but shifting winds and high sulfur dioxide emission have kept it closed for now. Kilauea has erupted 34 times since 1952, with the most recent round of activity beginning in January 1983.
