May 15 - U.S. stocks traded in choppy fashion as comments from Federal Reserve chief Ben Bernanke did little to offset concerns about the economy.
Higher oil prices were seen as a negative for the market. Investor sentiment, however, was aided by a flurry of merger and acquisition news involving CBS, Yahoo, and General Electric. Conway Gittens reports from New York.
