Obama proposes debate on Iran
May 16 - Barack Obama, responding to speeches by President Bush and John McCain, offered on Friday to debate them "any time, anywhere" on matters of foreign policy while defending his advocacy of direct talks with Iran without pre-conditions.
Recent polls show Americans view Iran as America's most dangerous enemy. Analysts say that while Obama's message of engagement may resonate with some voters, he faces the challenge of criticizing President Bush's foreign policy while also convincing a majority of Americans his approach would add to the nation's security.
