Jun. 27 - Giant pandas are being evacuated from a breeding centre in Sichuan province following the devestating earthquake that struck in May.

The Sichuan Wolong Panda Reservoir in earthquake-devestated southwest China was home to 63 pandas.

Following the May 12 quake 18 enclosures were destroyed and 14 severely damaged. One panda was killed and another remains missing.

The surviving pandas have since been in the process of being relocated to suitable wildlife parks in China.

On Thursday (June 26), eight pandas were transferred to the Yunnan Wild Animals Park in the southwestern Chinese province's capital Kunming.
