US economy sputters along

Jul. 31 - The U.S. economy grew 1.9 percent in the second quarter but recession fears still linger as unemployment lines grow longer.

  • The Dow dropped 205 points to 11,378. The S&P 500 fell 16 points to 1,267. The Nadaq dipped 4 points to 2,325.
  • Oil prices tumbled $2.69 to settle at $124.08 a barrel.
