Suicide bomber targets Iraq pilgrims

Aug. 15 - The female bomber detonated an explosives-packed vest in the midst of a crowd of Shi'ites in Iraq.

At least 19 people have been killed in the blast and 75 more wounded in the attack near the town of Iskandariya, 40 kilometres south of Baghdad through which Shi'ite pilgrims heading for the holy shrine of Kerbala have to pass.

SOUNDBITE: Nassir Hadi, pilgrim, saying (Arabic):
"We set up tents and started to serve dinner for the pilgrims when there was a sudden blast. It happened as people gathered and children were celebrating the occasion."
