Food fees hit international travel

Aug 20 - United Airlines is the first U.S. air carrier to take away complimentary meal service to economy passengers on select international flights in a bid to offset fuel costs.

On Wall Street:

  • The Dow ended a choppy session with a gain of 68 points to 11,417.
  • The S&P 500 climbed 7 points to 1,274.
  • The Nasdaq rose 4 points to 2,389.
  • Crude oil rose 45 cents to settle at $114.98 a barrel.
