Sep 5 - Bank employees and trade union members demonstrate in Frankfurt, Germany's financial centre, against Commerzbank's $14.5 billion takeover of Dresdner Bank which will lead to thousands of job cuts.
The takeover will slash 9000 jobs, 6500 of which will be in Germany, mostly at investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort.
At a time of much uncertainty, many workers from other banks took to the streets in a show of solidarity, but also to call for higher wages and greater job protection.
Meanwhile analysts say Commerzbank's takeover of Dresdner is not without challenges.
