U.S. jobs picture grows dimmer

Sep. 5 - America's unemployment rate surged to a near five-year high and employers cut jobs for the eighth consecutive month.

The surprisingly weak report from the Labor Department heightened existing fears of a deeper economic slowdown in the United States.
