Sep 28 - A whale which became entangled in shark nets off Australia's Gold Coast has been freed after a daring seven hour rescue operation.
The young adult humpback whale dragged about 200 metres of the netting free from its moorings off Queensland and a search was launched by the state's Department of Primary Industries.
Eventually the whale was spotted and rescuers spent seven hours trying to disentangle the 40 tonne mammal from the netting.
Sonia Legg reports.
