President-elect Barack Obama's plans to increase federal funding for tech research and the training of scientists and engineers are misguided according to economist Amar Bhidé, author of "The Venturesome Economy."
In an interview with Reuters Diane King, Bhidé says that competing against other nations for research breakthroughs is not as beneficial as making broad-based investments in education that increase the capabilities of all workers.
