Toxic milk suspects stand trial
Dec 31 - Suspects stand trial for adding an industrial chemical to milk powder that sickened thousands of infants and killed at least six.
Melamine, a cheap industrial compound, is often used in making plastics and in pesticides. Chinese authorities said around 290,000 children have developed kidney problems and complications after drinking melamine-contaminated milk or baby formula.
