May 04 - The leading representatives in the cycling world unite to fight doping by increasing out of competition tests and by suspending riders involved in pending doping investigations.

They met to decide on the actions to take after the so-called "Operation Puerto" in Spain, which involved some of the most famous names in the cycling world.

Tour de France organisers last year banned riders involved in the Puerto scandal, and last month of asked teams not to select those riders for other events the teams compete in.

The leading representatives agreed to increase tests and to suspend riders involved in pending doping scandals and to appoint a common lawyer to address the legal implications of "Operation Puerto"

Last year's Tour was marred by numerous allegations of doping including those against the U.S. cyclist Floyd Landis.
