Washington sniper executed

(00:55) Rough Cut

Nov 11 - John Allen Muhammad, convicted of killing ten people in a shooting spree in 2002, is put to death by lethal injection at Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Virginia.

Virginia Department of Corrections spokesman Larry Traylor said there were no complications with the execution and that Muhammad did not make a last statement.

Paul Ebert, the Virginia prosecutor who won the death penalty conviction against Muhammad, was among the officials and family members of victims to witness the execution.

Ebert said, "he died very peacefully, much more than most of his victims."

Muhammad's body was then transported to the medical examiner's office in the state capital Richmond.
