Kingdom's "oasis effect"

(03:51) Interview

Mar. 27 - The CEO of Kingdom Hotel Investments says he is trying to create an "oasis effect" in emerging markets where it operates.

It is doing this by buying property surrounding Kingdom's resorts and developing office buildings and second-home villas which can take advantage of the resort's amenities.

Sarmad Zok, speaking at the Reuters Middle East Investment Summit in Dubai on Tuesday, said this type of development is beneficial because it provides an alternative source of funding and enhances capital that has already been used for the development. Separately, Zok says about two-thirds of Kingdom's expansion this year will be in Asia.
