Fire at the Tour de France
Jul 21 - Reuters photographers faced an unexpected turn of events at the Tour de France when their edit van caught fire.
The photographers were covering the stages of the Tour when the engine of their people carrier burst into flames, forcing them to leap to safety and destroying almost all of their equipment.
Mallory and Ian Langsdon and Thierry Roge, had already been recording their experiences for a video blog for this website, and now found themselves filming the demise of their van.
The race stage had to be diverted away from the scene of the incident whose cause is not yet known.
