Oct. 12 - The former U.S. Vice President Al Gore has been awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, sharing the award with the U.N.'s climate panel.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee chose Gore and the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to share the 2007 prize from a field of 181 candidates.
Both Gore and the IPCC were cited for their work to raise awareness of the issue of climate change.
