'Dead' canoeist arrested
Dec. 5 - A British man who was declared dead after disappearing in his canoe five years ago has been arrested days after turning up alive.
John Darwin is being held on suspicion of fraud four days after he walked into a London police station and told officers he believed they might be looking for him. The 57-year-old, who claims to have lost his memory, vanished from his home five years ago and was presumed drowned in a canoeing accident. But a British tabloid has published what it claims is a photograph of Darwin and his wife Anne apparently posing together last year in Panama where Mrs Darwin now lives after cashing in on her husband's life insurance policies.
