DEc. 25 - A champion was crowned five days after a crash took the life of twice German national champion Herbert Weiss at the world Grand Prix championships in New Zealand.
Racing was suspended the day following the deadly crash as a measure of respect for Weiss. Grand Prix winner Sebastian Kawa was rated first in the world and was world gliding champion in 2003, 2004 and 2006.
Lindsay Claiborn reports.
