Feb 16 - Protestors clash with police in the Serbian capital Belgrade on the eve of its southern province's independence.
Demonstrators scuffled with police in Belgrade, as they pushed passed a security cordon to post a letter at the Slovenian embassy, current holder of the EU Presidency.
The demonstrators are protesting against the recognition of Kosovo as an independent state.
Kosovo's parliament will declare independence on Sunday (February 17), almost nine years since NATO went to war to save the province's 90-percent Albanian majority from a wave of killings and ethnic cleansing by Serb forces trying to crush a rebel insurgency.
The USA and EU members will recognise Kosovo's independence. But Serbia's coalition government are split on whether to reject ties with the EU over their position on Kosovo.
