Mexico shaken by drug killings
May 9 - Mexican President Felipe Calderon paid tribute to a federal police chief gunned down in a drug war.
Edgar Millan, one of Mexico's top federal policemen, was murdered by hired killers waiting for him at his home. More than 2,500 people were killed in drug related violence in Mexico last year. Another 1,100 people have died so far this year as the drug gangs battle each other and security forces.

SOUNDBITE: Mexican President Felipe Calderon, saying, (Spanish):
"We should also unanimously condemn, not only this cowardly assassination, but also unpunished crimes. We should also stick together to confront this evil. All Mexicans should say together 'that's enough!' and make a definite call to help us confront this."
