Amazonian tribe to be investigated

June 4. - The Peruvian government announces it will send a team to investigate the plight of a tribe of uncontacted Amazonian Indians in Brazil near the border with Peru.

The team will investigate whether the tribe moved their thatched hut village across the border from Peru to Brazil because of pressures brought on by the illegal logging industry.

"An epidemic could be started with just simply a sneeze. For them, the flu is fatal, for example. There are illnesses that have genetic characteristics for us, but for them, they are practically fatal."
