Mugabe says vote must go ahead

Jun. 26 - Robert Mugabe rejects calls to postpone the election, saying there can be no interference in Zimbabwe.

Mugabe who is bound to extend his 28-year-rule in the one candidate election, says he is open to discussions with the opposition MDC.

Mugabe says he will attend an African Union summit in Egypt next week but no solutions could be imposed on Zimbabwe from outside. He added he was ready to answer any challenge from within the AU to the elections.
